Drive against militants in NE to continue

Though the active militant groups of the North East have abundance of weapons, most of them are facing shortage of ammunition. Meanwhile, the Government has decided that there should not be any let up in the counter-insurgency operations even as the overall law and order situation has shown improvement.
But it is not easy to bring in ammunition in large numbers and it is also not possible to store ammunition for a long time. That is why the militant groups are facing shortage of ammunition and in recent times, there was no instance of heavy firing or exchange of fire involving the militants, sources pointed out.
