Times of India | TNN | Oct 11, 2012, 12.05AM IST
The Union ministry of development of northeastern region (DoNER) is all set to implement a multi-modal transport project for linking Mizoram and an inland waterway to the Bay of Bengal through the Sittwe Port in Myanmar.
A DoNER official on Wednesday said that since Mizoram is located at the southernmost corner of the northeast, it could be the region's second business hub if it is connected with the Bay of Bengal. Besides another project to connect the northeast with Thailand by road along with a proposed rail connection from Delhi to Hanoi in Vietnam through the northeast is also underway.
