Demonetisation, economic blockade hit Imphal hard
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Nov 18
At a time while they were having a hard time standing in long queues to exchange their no more legal tender notes in banks or to get legal tender notes, people have to stand in long beeline queues to get a limited quantity of petrol from the retail outlets which were opened today.
Petrol was distributed in IOC fed retail outlets after a long gap of around one week. The outlets were not functioning after the petrol stock at IOC depot was reduced to zero owing to prolong economic blockade on the national highways of the state.
UNC sponsored indefinite economic blockade has entered its 18th day on Friday and amidst the blockade that prevent shipping of essential commodities into the state on the national highways passing through Naga dominated areas, 22 petrol loaded trucks reached Imphal on Wednesday night.
