Dead migratory birds found floating in Loktak lake
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Nov 30
Concern fishermen of the Loktak lake, the largest fresh water lake in Northeast India were worried as a good number of the migratory birds were found dead in the lake in the last few days. The fishermen feared that the birds might have died owing to consumption of poisonous substances used by some fishermen in fishing.
A concerned fisherman said that they suspect consumption of poisonous substances behind large scale death of the birds while alleging that use of poisonous chemical by fishermen in fishing was on the raise in the last few years.
