Dancing feet sway Tura at National Folk Dance Yatra
Seven Sisters Post | Tura (Sept 12):
From the rhythmic beat of the traditional Garo drums to the war cries of the Naga tribes, the National Folk Dance Yatra, a cultural extravaganza with the theme ‘Mati KE Rang Yatra’ was held in Tura on a glittering note that left all spectators bedazzled.
Traditional folk dances like Wangala from Garo Hills, Jhoomer from Punjab, Maku He Ngichi (sangtam war dance) from Nagaland, Lai Haraoba from Manipur, Handu (sangtam) from Nagaland, Pung Cholom from Manipur and Malwai Giddha from Punjab were performed by dance troupes from their respective states and enthralled the audience with their vivacity and traditional beats.
