The Ministry of Education & Statistics, Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has organized a one day awareness seminar on cybercrime yesterday (21st October, 2019) at the Jubilee Hall of Presidency College, Motbung.
The awareness seminar was attended by Shri Hemant Pandey, IPS (SP Kangpokpi) as Chief Guest, Shri Emmanuel Fimate, MPS (Addl SP Kangpokpi) as Resource Person, Shri P. , Officer-in-Charge, Gamnom-Saparmaina Police Station as Special Guest and school going class 9 & 10 students studying in and around Motbung village. In all, 400 students from 7 different schools are in attendance.
Chief Guest of the seminar Hemant Pandey advocates the importance of cognition and awareness in cybercrime in today’s world. He too talks about privacy and proper usage of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Resource person of the seminar highlighted the ill-effects of internet technology, the punishable and laws under the Indian Information Technology Act. He highlighted various types of crimes under the cyber viz. Banking Fraud, SMS Scam, Lottery, Social Media Fake Account, etc. proper explanation through the slides. He also talks about the ominous effects of mobile internet games such as PUBG especially to the school going students.
After a session of 2 hours lecture by the Resource Person, various students had shared their feedback and testimony about the productiveness of the seminar.
The SP Kangpokpi distributes sweets to each participating school as a token of admiration and acknowledgement. The Seminar starts at 12:30 pm and ended at 3 pm with a vote of thanks addressed by Mr Michael Lamjathang Haokip, Secretary General, Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters.
