Cry Of A Dying River...42
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that remained still for that fleeting moment
Rarest of the rare moment that came once in a century
That captivating moment of a lifetime
When two love lorn souls surrendered to each other
The river that was beholden by the divine reunion
That propitious sight of Luwang Ningthou holding Irem Leima in arms
Sailing together along down the Luwang-ee stream
Oh romantics of the world! What could be more romantic
Than the Luwang-Leima romance on the river.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that treasures its ancient name
'Lam-Poon' with the fondest nostalgia
The river that remembers "Khoidom Pat"
Reminiscing the reminiscence of a lake ethereal
So named after the Kanglei goddess "Ima Panthoibi"
Of her PHANEK-KHOIDOM SETLINGEI era
It was as though the confluence ( of Kangchup and Luwang-ee rivers) was pre-destined
To be a retreat of romance for the love lorn souls
Oh memories! Memories of the Luwang saga- a riverine heritage lost
