Court to decide fate of pricey wood
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra | Imphal (Sept 15)
Manipur forest department is caught up in a court battle over possession of a seized consignment of red sander logs worth over Rs3 crore.
While a special Central investigator deputed after the huge seizure advised the forest department to hand over the precious wood to the consignment’s state of origin, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur officials were undecided over the matter.
The forest department already filed an offence case seeking to know as to who will decide on the fate of the red sander logs, which are now under custody of the state police.
