Consultation Programme in Delhi On 'Electoral Reform in Manipur' on 17th October, 2015
1) Mass consultation programme was held on the title- The 2nd Series of Consultation Programme On TENABLE ELECTORAL REFORM “Apropos Phungyar Constituency”
Dated: 17th October, 2015
Time: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Venue: Arts Faculty, University of Delhi, Delhi- 110007
2) Around 200 diasporas of Elders, Govt Employees, Private employees, Scholars, Different Student Union Leaders, Social workers, Entrepreneurs, Students and Well-wishers attended the meeting.
3) The participants in unison vouched for- bringing positive development oriented change, ushering free
and fair election in the coming 2017 MLA election, eradication of corruption, inclusive mass
involvement, providing informed choice to the mass, non-interference from any external force, electing
young, dynamic, credible, practical and socializing candidate, involving all stake holders includingelders,
youth, Church, women, etc, and organizing more such programmes in the near future, organizing
at block and village level,

4) As Mr Thothuingam Shinglai (Research Scholar JNU) moderated and navigated the Consultation programme, Dr. Rimai Joy, (Director, Research and Training, Ardent Foundation) welcomed and introduced the participants along with briefing and highlights on the previous consultation programme.
5) Speakers of the progamme included:
i) Prof (Dr.). A.S. Yaruingam, (Professor, University of Delhi (DU), New Delhi)
ii) Dr. Martin Kamodang, Asst. Prof., Jamia Millia Islamia University
iii) Mr.Chansa Makan, Asst. Prof., University of Delhi (DU), New Delhi
iv) Mr. Justin Jamang, Asst. Prof., University of Delhi (DU), New Delhi
v) Mr. Lakpachui Siro, Research Scholar, NEUPA, New Delhi
6) Topics of speakers and consultation were on: Tenable Electoral Reforms, Solutions to Electoral
Problems, Role of Youth in Electoral Reforms, Understanding Phungyar Constituency, and Analysing
Candidates for Election-2017 which was followed by intensive discourse and consultation with the
participants for more than 02 hours.
7) It can be reminded that this is the second series of consultation, the first one was held at “The Classic Hotel, Imphal, Manipur on 28-August-2015 where around 200 people attended.
8) Speaking on the occasion/media, Dr. Rimai Joy said, this is an initiative of the learned youth, with the purpose of inclusive mass involvement and off late the support base expansion is humongous. He said change has begun and we will usher in positive change at any cost for the betterment of our people and our area.
