TSA condemn harassment of women IPS officer
The Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) vehemently condemned the barbaric act of the personnel of 12 Assam Rifles over Ms. Anupam, IPS, SDPO Yairipok at Khudengthabi Check Post along Imphal-Moreh Asian Highway on 19th January, 2020.
The check post manned by the Assam Rifles at Khudengthabi and Tengnoupal causes several inconveniences to the general public. There has been wide range of complaint against the personnel of Assam Rifles during the past years wherein commuters had faced numbers of unwanted incidents.
TSA deeply feels that it may be due to lack of professionalism in frisking the commuters and expresses our desire to review the system of checking and frisking at the border places by the concern authority.
Mention may be made that in November, 2018 TSA had stridently remonstrated against the assault of its Secretary General by surly soldiers of the 12 Assam Rifles who were manning the check-post at Tengnoupal. The victim has not received any justice so far.
The brutality of the Assam Rifles remains thick and fresh, till today. Again in November 2019, a woman was sexually abused and molested by the same unit of Assam Rifles at Khudengthabi check post.
In spite of their pompous slogan "Friends of the Hill People", the Assam Rifles had failed to win the heart of the people due to the misconduct of irresponsible personnel.
Instead of owning responsibility and pulling up those personnel who were responsible for the outrage the Assam Rifles blatantly came out with superfluous justifications which only leave a bad taste to the mouth of all right thinking citizens thus tarnishing her image and integrity, further.
While extending our solidarity to the police officer, we request the government to look for a long term permanent solution to resolve the inconveniences caused to the general public along Imphal-Moreh Highways.
