Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation 2010 Competition
- Cultural Heritage Center (ECA/P/C) -
Cultural Heritage Center (ECA/P/C) launched a call for proposals via cable for the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation 2010 Competition.
Established by Congress in 2001 to help developing countries preserve their cultural heritage, AFCP provides direct grant support for the preservation of cultural objects and collections, cultural sites, and forms of traditional cultural expression. This year's competition marks the 10th anniversary of the AFCP program.
As in previous years, posts must have satisfied the reporting requirements for any earlier AFCP-supported projects to be eligible for this new round of grants. You will find those reporting requirements listed in the grant agreements for those earlier projects.
Again this year, posts must submit the completed project proposals through the AFCP Web site
(http://www.afcp.us). Since Internet connections can fail unexpectedly in some areas, we encourage posts to assemble proposals in Word or another application and then paste the text into the corresponding boxes on the Web form.
If you have not yet used the AFCP Web site, you will have to register with the site before submitting your proposals. If you registered last year, please take a couple moments to review and update your profiles. We strongly encourage posts to register at least one locally employed staff member on the Web site to ensure some continuity of communication when public diplomacy officers depart posts for other assignments.
If you registered last year but cannot remember your password, send a request for a password reminder to [email protected] .
Please keep in mind when considering projects that, as grantor, the Department has a federal stewardship responsibility to fulfill that may include site visits and other measures to ensure that the grantee accomplishes the objectives, terms, and conditions of the grant.
Please do not hesitate to contact AFCP at [email protected] if you have any questions after reviewing these materials.
