Is this Manipur and how Manipuris behave - INDIFFERENT TO ANY SITUATION!!!! Was it some kind of a circus, where everybody watches a human torch and people take photographs and video recording. Don't we have any human left in Manipur, who has the basic idea - of saving a soul, a soul that was burningto death, burning for? One and half kilometers. It was his decision to die, to die for us all. But it doesn't give us any obligation that we should watch the flame burn this brave soul and hear every words of pain. How long will we remain indifferent? It is tough to guess how long as in that moment, we remain mute and indifferent - inspite of when a human was the burning torch and running with every pain and determination a man can think of. His grit and determination is unique for I can't remember anyone in the history of mankind, who could run, run on a road, with every parts of his nerves, head, eyes, ears , face, skin burning to bring justice and peace for us all. Can anyone imagine how much it hurts when your nerves are burn alive? and yet still run on road towards a destination. He ran for justice for us, "we" who just stood back and watch this True son of the soil burn, burn to dead. It must have taken a lot of "MORONIC" qualities to just sit back and watch the whole Act of supreme sacrifice. I think there is virtue in supreme sacrifice but not watching like in a circus and letting another human die in front of us. As I sit long into the night, I am just wondering, how much he could have changed MANIPUR, with that very strength and determination to run in that lonely streets to freedom..... if only he was alive!!! * Dr. Bishwajeet Elangbam is a doctor based in UK.
