IMaCS invites applications from qualified candidates for 01 (One) position of CFSS (Child friendly schools and systems) Consultant for Guwahati, Assam. The Consultant will provide regular support to key implementing departments, viz. SSA and UN Agency, for project formulation, planning, implementation & regular monitoring of CFSS (Child friendly schools and systems).
She/He will be responsible for smooth functioning of Schools in the Pilot. She/He will also manage efficient implementation of CFSS in Schools in a phased manner, and focus on promoting, protecting and supporting Child friendly initiative in the State.
Major Tasks to be accomplished
A. Technical Co-ordination
o Support the Govt of Assam (SSA), UN Agency and NGO for planning, effective implementation and management of Child friendly Schools and Systems.
o Ensure that RTE -2009 protocols, guidelines are respected and adhered to and correctly implemented.
o Develop comprehensive plan & state-specific guidelines for improving educational status of children with special focus on class room transaction
o She/He will
o Ensure that materials and supplies are timely and adequately provided and accountably utilized.
o Coordinate with School administration and NGO for implementation of the Project.
o Ensure proper coordination with different stakeholders at state/district/School and community level.
o Supervise assigned personnel and monitor program implementation and provide regular feedback.
B. Capacity-building
o Develop capacity-building plans / training and developmental opportunities on CFSS and motivate teachers to improve quality of teaching and learning.
o Support in the provision of training for teachers, community and children.
C. Supportive Supervision & Monitoring
o Together with other field functionaries of line departments, undertake regular monitoring field visits to understand the quality of implementation and provide feedback for corrective measures.
o Develop monitoring mechanisms/reporting formats, assist with data compilation, analysis and reporting etc.
o To provide technical assistance for preparation of documents / regular reports and returns.
D. Inter-sectoral Convergence
o Liaise with line departments’ viz. SSA, SCERT, DIET to improve quality of inputs for education in their respective programs including initiatives such as RTE campaign, Teaching learning methodology, Water and sanitation and Child protection issues
o To participate in meetings, workshops pertaining to Teacher training, Community participation and Gender.
o To perform any other duties and responsibilities as directed by the supervisors.
E. Deliverables:
o Monthly Reports
o Periodic review & feedback reports
Official Travel involved
The Consultant will travel to selected blocks of Kamrup district (Rani and Rampur) for School visit to implement the programme.
Qualification and Experience
o Post Graduate in Social Sciences, or Social Wok or Education or B.Ed degree/ 2 year Diploma in Education.
o Previous work experience/ field experience /familiar with the practical application of planning/field coordination and management in primary education programs / projects.
o Minimum two years of experience working with Govt/non-governmental agencies/ UN agencies
o Ability to conduct educational survey.
Knowledge, Skills & Languages:
o Working knowledge of MS Office essential, knowledge of data analysis packages preferable.
o Good written and verbal communication skill, negotiation and facilitation skills
o Fluent in speaking and writing Assamese, English and Hindi
o Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
