'Changes in Myanmar open new opportunities for India'
Assam Tribune | IANS | Kolkata, Sept 18 ():
"The recent changes in Myanmar have created new opportunities for enhancing Indo-Myanmar ties," director general of Indian Council of World Affairs Rajeev Bhatia said at a seminar on "Indo-Myanmar Relations and Development of India's Northeast" here.
Bhatia said that while the development of the country's north eastern states was India's internal affair, and improvement in Indo-Myanmar ties a separate issue, "Both the benefits can accrue better if they are looked at in a connected way".
The seminar was jointly organised by the Eastern and North Eastern Regional Studies Centre, Kolkata, and Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi.
