Centre admits infiltration from Bangla
Assam Tribune | Kalyan Barooah | New Delhi, Sept 10
Acknowledging that there was illegal infiltration from Bangladesh into the country, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Monday played safe, stressing a negotiated settlement of the vexed problem, while expressing firm resolve to seal the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Addressing his maiden press conference after assuming charge as the country’s Home Minister, this afternoon, Shinde chose not to court further controversy over the problem of illegal influx by opting for safe replies. The interaction with the media that lasted for over an hour was mostly focused on the recent violence in BTAD areas and the government’s bid to rein in the social media.
