Carnival to bring alive Naga culture in Delhi
Seven Sisters Post | New Delhi (Sept 18):
Often at the receiving end of Delhi’s notorious racial bias, the Nagas based in the national capital will showcase their unique culture during a day-long carnival here on Wednesday. Nearly 20,000-odd Naga people — students, IT professionals, government employees and home-makers — will congregate at the Talkatora Stadium to bridge the gap between the people of the Northeastern state and of mainland India.
Besides showcasing traditional Naga culture, the day-long festival also aims to introduce mouth-watering indigenous cuisines to the rest of the country. The Naga people are often derided for their eating habits in mainland India though it is an established fact the food of the Northeastern state is among the most healthy food in the world. “The main vision of Naga festival is to bring people from all walks of life together and celebrate our culture and to share it with the rest of the world,” Nokho Neykha, convenor of the festival, told Seven Sisters Post.
