Cancer cases on the rise in Manipur

Cancer, the second most common disease in India and the cause of maximum mortality rate in Manipur is on the rise, Dr. Y Mohen, former superintendent of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal said
Earlier, an average of 800 new cases was detected but it has been increased to around 1300 per year in the last few years, he said. Dr. Mohen observed consumption of tobacco in various forms as one of the main reasons behind the rapid increase of the disease.
