Breast Cancer Awareness Program at Pune

The Association of Manipuri Diaspora (AMAND) Pune, which is a registered nonprofit, non-government community organization founded by working/ retired Manipuri professionals residing in and around Pune, conducted the Breast Cancer Awareness Program on 31st October 2020 on a virtual platform via Zoom.
The camp was organized by AMAND Ladies Club on the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – October. The main theme of the program was a general awareness, early detection, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
The program was initiated by an introductory remark by Mrs Vijaya Namram, Gen Secy, AMAND Ladies Club, followed by the welcome speech by Er. Giridhar Naorem, VP, AMAND, Pune.
Dr Jyotosana Angom, Gynecologist, Jehangir Hospiral, Pune and Dr Priya Chawle, Datta Meghe Ayurveda College, Hospital and Research Center, Nagpur were the resource persons of the program.
After the brief introduction of the resources persons by Mrs Tarunibala Khumanthem, VP, AMAND Ladies Club, Dr Priya highlighted about the causes, preventions, treatments of breast cancer amongst women. She gave emphasis on the early detection and the status of breast cancer cases in India.
Breast Cancer Awareness Program at Pune on 31st October 2020
Dr Jyotsana enlightened the audiences on how a simple self-examination and general awareness can prevent the breast cancer. As a part of the program, an interactive session for ladies members was also conducted.
One of the AMAND member, who is a breast cancer patients, Mrs Pushpita Aheibam shared her experiences on how she cope up after the diagnosis and treatment and led a normal life.
The online program was attended by around 50 participants from various part of the country like Nagpur, Shillong, Imphal, Mumbai and Pune. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs Ambica Shougrakpam.
AMAND, Pune appreciated the efforts of the members of the AMAND Ladies Club for organizing such a socially useful events and especially the program in charge, Ms Minolta Haorakcham. AMAND Pune look forward to conduct such social outreach program in the near future.
