Blast exposes security chinks
The Telegraph | Imphal, Jan 21
A bomb blast amid tight security in the heart of Imphal today exposed chinks in the security measures taken by police ahead of Republic Day, which is boycotted by militant outfits.
No militant group claimed responsibility for the blast. Police, however, blamed militants for it. "They (militants) exploded the bomb to make their presence felt," a senior police official said. The bomb was planted at the foot of a tree on the crematorium campus. Imphal West superintendent of police, A.K. Jhaljit Singh, inspected the blast site.
