Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) for young startups

Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) is a flagship programme of BIRAC which ignites young startups and entrepreneurial individuals. BIG is the largest early-stage biotech funding programme in India. The scheme provides Grant-in-aid support up to INR 50 lakhs(5 million) to best in class innovative ideas to build the proof-of-concept.
THE PURPOSE OF THE BIG SCHEME IS TO:
o Foster generation of ideas with commercialization potential
o Upscale and validate of proof of concept
o Encourage researchers to take technology closer to market through a start-up
o Stimulate enterprise formation
As part of this scheme, successful BIG Innovators receive up to INR 50 lakh for research projects with commercialization potential with a duration of up to 18 months.
Who can apply: Entrepreneurs, Startups, Scientists, Clinicians & Doctors, Faculties, Graduated Students and Research Scholars.
Sectors Covering: Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Medical devices & Diagnostics, Drugs & Vaccines, Waste Management, IoT, Data Analytics, Biosimilars and Stem cells and other allied areas of Life Sciences.
Grant Money: 50 lakhs
Duration: 18 months
Call open: 1st August 2021
