Apex court turns down Manipur Govt plea on extra-judicial killings
The Telegraph | R. Balaji | New Delhi, Nov. 5:
The Supreme Court today declined to grant four weeks’ time as sought by the Manipur government to respond to a plea for a probe by a special investigation team (SIT) into alleged largescale extra-judicial killings of suspected militants in the state.
“People are dying. People are being killed. How do you expect us to give you four weeks’ time? We can’t give you four weeks. You have to file the reply by November 19,” a bench comprising Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai told Manipur’s counsel while posting the matter for further hearing to November 24.
