Invitation for Observation of Patriots' Day
- at LTG Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi -
- 13 August 2009 -
Dear Friends,
The 13th August is a red-letter day in the history of Manipur. As we all know on this fateful day, the two Great Patriots, namely Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General were hanged by the British in front of the public at the Imphal Pologround in 1891, as these two heroes defended the Freedom of Manipur against the British.
To mark respect to the supreme sacrifices made by not only these two heroes but also by many other heroes of Manipur in 1891, 13th August of every year is observed as "Patriots' Day" by the State Government of Manipur and Manipuris across the world.
Manipuri Diaspora Association, Delhi, a secular and non-profit organization, has been observing Patriots' Day (13th August) in the National Capital, Delhi for the last few years. This year too, the Patriots' Day is being observed at New Delhi.
Several VIPs, dignitaries and people from the entire state of manipur & North-East will join in the observation. On this occasion, the Manipuri Diaspora Association, Delhi is also bringing out a Souvenir. We would like to request you to write article for publication in the Souvenir at the earliest, not later than 7th August, 2009 and mail to me.
