An educational trip home: Zeliangrong Expedition 2012
Morung Express | Dimapur, October 4 (MExN):
The Zeliangrong Ancestral Land Expedition 2012 is all set to take off on October 6. What will begin in Peren (Nagaland), charting various Zeliangrong ancestral sites through Assam, will end with a “homecoming” to Makuilongdi (Manipur) on October 22. Made possible through a Facebook initiative, the newly formed Zeliangrong Citizens Forum has organized this tour for promoting cultural education among the Zeliangrong people spread out in Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, and now many cities all over India.
The tour consists of walking through Zeliangrong ancestral sites, accompanied by lectures delivered by prominent Zeliangrong intellectuals. The event, which will be flagged off by Nagaland Minister for Planning and Coordination, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Evaluation, T.R. Zeliang, has a section each day for participants to connect to their land and understand its history, along with its significance in present times.
