An Evening Chat with My Friend
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
My friend of the sky!
In this undefined moment of life
It makes no sense
The sun sets in the evening.
Oh, please do not
For my love is still a virgin.
Here I am
And why I am here is beyond reason
And I find this place both empty and barren
Empty because my love is not found
And barren because there is no rain coming.
As yet
I have not made love to love;
The burning desire
With its myriad tongues
Has devoured my tiny heart .
Love in the east
Is not all, is not all;
What is love afterall
If it cannot encompass
The whole universe
Like a thick fog?
I remember
My eureka moment
When I could feel the presence of a world
Not seen through the prism of my being.
For a split second
Life smiled
And I got enlightened.
I eat, drink and sleep
I eat, drink and sleep;
I also act, and act
In the present moment
Not apparently connected
With its past or its future.
With each passing day,
I find my life is already determined.
What have you seen
Of love and life,
O bright one ?
You should not set in the evening
At least for one day
And let the world know
The bright one and his friend
Do not want an unwanted death.
Why should the sun set in the western sky
Before life and love
Make their appearance on earth?
