The Eternity Partners Aizawl, Mizoram is organizing – Aizawl Theatre Festival – 2011, which is an open competition on Drama/Skit for all interested Teams/ Clubs / Associations / Organizations / Students / Institutions, formal or informal group to be held during 5th – 10th December, 2011 at Art & Culture Auditorium, Berawtlang, Aizawl.

Aizawl Theatre Festival 2011
(An open competition on Drama/Skit)
This programme is organized to encourage all the Mizos to explore and experiment with the dramatic form as a means of communication in English. Theatre or Drama is an age old cultural form of our society, which has been used for entertainment, recreation and also as a medium of social interaction ( i.e. to put across the social message), in other words, correcting the society in an indirect way, thus bringing asocial change.
By understanding the effectiveness of this medium and also to involve all the citizens to participate in this creative medium, an attempt is made to organize Aizawl Theatre Festival. This is an opportunity to bring all especially the Mizos of different personality and character to interact, exchange and explore this medium of communication and play – Theatre.

The aims of the competition are to:
- Give participants an opportunity to learn improvised drama techniques and use English in a creative way;
- Give participants an opportunity to experiment with the use of English in different roles and dramatic contexts; and
- Support the learning and teaching of the Elective Module for students, Learning English through Drama.
- The Drama should not be an academic exercise and dull. It shouldconvey emotional and aesthetic experience to the performers and also to the audience.
- It should totally engage the audience and convey communication message indirectly. The performers and audience should be satisfied that they have understood / learnt something through it.
- While writing the play, care should be taken regarding the settings, duration of the paly and also the number of artists taking part in the drama.
1. The duration of the drama should not be less than 20 minutes and not more than 30 minutes.
2. There should not be more than 20 characters (as a team for easy mobility).
3. The Drama should convey communication message.
4. The Drama Team should be able to set up the props and other necessary requirements to stage within 10 minutes.
5. The language should be easy to follow (more of communication and visuals preferred).
6. The Drama should be in English Language only.
7. The Drama can have costumes, dance, music and also models to entrance the interest and credibility of the Drama.
8. No written scripts will be allowed in the performance.
9. Audiences are expected to maintain silence during the play. At thediscretion of the organizers, points may be deducted if any team members in the audience cause a disturbance. Mobile phones must be switched off or set to silent mode.
10. Briefing Sessions
Two identical briefing sessions will be held from 3.30 to 5.00 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 23 and 24 and 25 November, 2011, at Eternal Partners Office, Aijal Club, Aizawl. These will provide participants entering the competition for the first time are encouraged to attend a briefing session.
11. Written Posters / Banners / A. V. Aids can be used for illustration.
12. The participating Team has to submit an authentic English scripts to the organizer well before staging the Drama.
13. Passport size photographs of the participants of the Drama and the performance of the Drama have to be sent to the organizer along with the Participants’ details.

Prizes
Following prizes will be awarded as per the judges’ decision:
- 1st Prize - Rs. 2,00,000/-( + 20% for Local Participant)
- 2nd Prize - Rs. 1,00,000/-( + 20% for Local Participant)
- 3rd Prize - Rs. 50,000/-( + 20% for Local Participant)
