Adoor regrets falling standards of NE films
Seven Sisters Post | Rahul Jain | Panaji (Nov 28):
Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Adoor Gopalakrishnan has regretted the falling standard of films from the Northeast, especially Assam and Manipur.
He said that the Bombay model (read Bollywood) is being reflected in almost all films made in these two states. “There was a time w hen some very interesting films were made in Assam and Manipur. But in the last few years, nothing major has come from the region. The run-of-the-mill cinema in Assam and Manipur are terrible. It seems everybody wants to sing and dance,” he told Seven Sisters Post.
