TISS announces admission to B.A. in Social Work with Specialisation in Rural Development (Honours) . This job oriented professional programme is offered by its School of Rural Development located at Tuljapur (near Solapur), Maharashtra.

Eligibility: 12th Standard (or equivalent) in any stream; candidates waiting for results can also apply. Minimum average of 50 % marks (40% for SC/ST)

Application Forms and Information Brochure: These may be obtained:
  • By sending a request letter to the Deputy Registrar (General Administration), TISS, Deonar, Mumbai 400 088 along with a Demand Draft for Rs.550/-, drawn in favour of Registrar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai and a selfaddressed cloth lined envelope (20cm x 25cm); or
  • By downloading from TISS website and submitting it with the processing fee of Rs.500/- to be paid in cash at the Institute cash counter or by a Demand draft, at TISS, Mumbai; or
  • From the Cash Counter at TISS, Mumbai or School of Rural Development, Tuljapur against cash payment of Rs.500/-.
Reservations:
  • 15% and 7.5% of seats for SC/ST candidates respectively. Free application forms will be provided to those SC/ST candidates who are unemployed and whose parents/ guardian’s income was Rs. 1,00,000/- or below in the financial year 2006-2007. They are required to submit an attested true copy of Caste/Tribe Certificate and income certificate of their parents/guardians issued by a Village Revenue Officer / Tahsildar / the employer along with the self-addressed cloth lined envelope (20cm x 25cm).
  • 3% seats for persons with disability (PWD) of which 1% seat each is reserved for (a) low vision/blindness, (b) hearing impairment, and (c) loco-motor disability/cerebral palsy.
  • GoI norms will be applicable for OBC candidates.
Last Date for Receipt of Completed Applications at TISS, Deonar, Mumbai 400 088 by hand or by Post: June 19, 2007 and for remote and far flung areas/region and foreign nationals: June 23, 2007.

Admission Procedure: Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through a process involving two stages: a) Written Test, and b) Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Written test will be conducted on July 1, 2007 at Allahabad, Aurangabad, Cuttack, Guwahati, Indore, Leh, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Raipur, Ranchi and Udaipur.

Short-listed candidates will be called for GD and personal interviews to be held at the Mumbai campus of TISS on July 14-15, 2007

Vacancy for the post of Research Assistant (1 post) for a project titled, “Teaching and Researching Women’s Issues to Promote Women’s Equality and Empowerment” as part of the British Council supported DELPHE Programme

Qualification : Postgraduate degree preferably in Social Sciences with about 3 years experience in Research or some evidence of independent academic work.

Salary : Rs. 10,000 (approx.) per month.

Details : This position is initially for six months but is likely to be extended for two more years. The position primarily entails library work and may require some local traveling. Preference will be given to computerproficient candidates and those who can handle project-related correspondence and liaison work independently.
