A Cloud of Dust
K. Radhakumar *
From the debris of the twin towers
Came god as if nothing had happened.
He looked more dead than dead.
Mon vieux, no New World Order sprang into life.
The brave new world of science and technology!
The brave new world of a godless generation!
There is no change in the weather.
There is neither change of heart
Nor change of mind;
Change is a bastard of a problem.
You are living in a dreamland
If you think humans will change;
The human problem is another human being.
Life is a dream –
A beautiful dream
And in the end it turns into a nightmare.
Life is like a house
Left in chaos after a party.
It is dark in broad daylight.
The end of the world
In fire or in ice –
It is a figment of one's imagination.
The reality is
Storms are gathering all over the world
And we are in for storms.
The miseries of the ordinary people!
They have no voice in the society
Nor are they artists
Who can spell out
How they are suffering.
The two opposing forces fight each other
And the people suffer.
They do not kill,
They murder people.
The forces are trampling on
The voice of a beautiful flower
And refugees are trampled to death
In the mad rush for safety and shelter
And a loaf of bread.
