Angami Public Organization (APO) resents proposed Gaidinliu memorial hall
Nagaland Post | Dimapur, Aug 21 (NPN)
Angami Public Organization (APO) has at its executive council meeting on August 19 resolved to register the Angami Naga community’s reservation and resentment against the state government’s initiative of “patronizing” the construction of Gaidinliu Memorial hall at Kohima. In a press release, APO president Dr. Vilhousa Seleyi and secretary info & publicity Neisakholie Ziephrü said APO failed to “comprehend the logic and sagacity” of the state government in affording such priority and recognition to a non-indigenous lady of the state. They said Gaidinliu’s contribution to the people and the state of Nagaland, particularly to the Angamis “do in no way merit” such endowments from any institutions or government. It termed the patronages extended towards the endeavour by the state government as “total insanity”.
In a press release, NNC/FGN said that the present Nagaland chief minister’s “attempt to glorify Gaidinliu, a pro-Indian and anti-Naga Nationalist who was opposed the Naga National Movement and the Naga National Council” was condemnable. At the same time, NNC/FGN said it was also “not happy with the decision of the Government of India to prop her up as a pro-India Naga icon”.
