5th Indian Youth Science Congress

The 5th Indian Youth Science Congress will be held in November 2013 at Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. Jointly organized by MSSRF, SRM University, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development and Visva-Bharati, the congress aims to provide a platform for young students and researchers to present their research work and discuss priority issues in enabling science and technology applications for human welfare. The congress is open to students and researchers in the field of Physical, Biological, Chemical, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
A key feature of this edition of Youth Science Congress will be an essay competition among the young scientists on "Vision for Science and Technology in pursuit of Excellence". Ten best entries will be selected and will be provided an opportunity to present their views in the plenary session. The participants of the congress will have an opportunity to interact with a galaxy of senior scientists and policy experts in the field of Science and Technology. Who should participate:
Participation is invited from young research scholars and students (B.Tech / M.Sc. / M.Tech / Ph.D / Post Doc) to present their work relevant to the themes mentioned above. Students and scholars who are not presenting their work can register as observers without submitting any abstract, and participate in all the events of IYSC.

• One page abstract (not applicable for observers)
• Filled in registration form which can be downloaded at www.mssrf.org, www.srmuniv.ac.in, www.rgniyd.gov.in and www.visva-bharati.ac.in
• Registration fee as Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation,payable at Chennai.
Essay Competition
This is aimed at giving an opportunity to young scientists to put their view points and vision for use of science and technology for ensuring a holistic development of our country. The essays titled "Vision for Science and Technology in pursuit of Excellence" could cover vision you have for combining scientific excellence and human development. Entries could highlight the pressing problems the country faces and what science and technology options could provide for solving these problems. It also could focus on a vision for a conducive and enabling environment in which scientists could achieve maximum productivity and contribute immensely in their career paths. Please mail your entries to [email protected] with the subject, "Essay competition". Essays are to be within 1500 words. A certificate from one of your faculty members should accompany the entries stating that these are original writings of the person submitting the entry.
10 best entries will be selected by a screening committee and selected entries will be provided a 10 min slot for making a presentation on these entries in the plenary session of the congress. The selected scientists will be provided free registration and accommodation and travel support for participation in the event, in addition to making their entries published in the proceedings in a separate section.

Scientists / Faculty members : Rs. 1000
Research Scholar : Rs. 600
Students : Rs. 400

Participants are requested to make their own arrangements for travel.
