22nd National Sports Climbing Championship Contingent flagged off
The 22nd National Sports Climbing Championship is scheduled from 17 to 20 December 2016 at Bangalore. North East Zone Sports Climbing Committee (NEZSCC) would be participating in the championship with 29 climbers, five coaches and manager as part of the NEZSCC contingent.
The contingent was selected based on the performance of the climbers in the North East Zone Sports Climbing Competition held at Imphal from 21 to 24 October 2016 which was organised by NEZSSC in association with 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South). 118 climbers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Manipur had participated in the event.
Brigadier J S Bainsla, Commander HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles interacted with the contingent on 12 December 2016 and conveyed his best wishes to all the climbers for their performance in the championship. He highlighted the efforts of Assam Rifles in encouraging young talent in the field of games sports and mentioned that Assam Rifles is committed to its motto of ‘Friends of Manipur’. The contingent was flagged off by Brigadier J S Bainsla from HQ IGAR (South) Mantripukhri.
