Imphal, January 20 2010: Two gunmen today allegedly attempted to foil a marriage ceremony of daughter of an engineer near Thongju Pechu Lampak under Singjamei police station in Imphal East district.

Reports said that the two gunmen coming on a motorcycle entered the house of Executive Engineer, Sanasam Rajen of Manipur University Engineering Cell this afternoon at about 1.30 pm when invitees and relatives had started gathering for the marriage ceremony of his daughter, and fired some rounds in the middle of the Mandop.

No casualty was reported in the firing incident.

The house of the engineer, mention may be made here, has been under attack by suspected undergrounds frequently in the past.
