Imphal, March 19, 2010: Corpses of two suspected UG cadres killed in two separate incidents of reported encounters have been claimed by respective families today.

Chongtham Sanjoy alias Nanao (21) of Sekmaijin Maning Leikai was killed in a reported encounter with Thoubal police commandos at the foothills of Nongjubi hills in the intervening night of March 14 and 15.Another reported encounter involving Imphal West commandos at an isolated place between Tharoijam and Taothong on March 16 claimed the life of one Khumbongmayum Oshorjit (23) of Keishampat Jailor Leirak.

Even as both the families contended that the two deceased were innocent civilians and that they were shot dead by commandos after taking them into their custody, the families claimed the corpses today.

Post mortem examinations of the corpses were conducted at RIMS today.
