Imphal, September 04, 2009: The hunger relay strike being organised by the Sharmila Kanba Lup at Porompat PDA complex in pursuance of the twin demands of repealing Armed Forces Special Powers Act and save the life of Irom Chanu Sharmila completed 268 days today.

Carrying forward the agitation, Meira Paibis of Brahmapur Laipubam Leirak participated in the hunger relay strike today.

It may be recalled here that Sharmila Kanba Lup launched the ongoing hunger relay strike on December 10, 2008 to show solidarity to Sharmila who has been on a fast unto death agitation demanding complete scrapping of the draconian Act from the soil of Manipur for almost nine years now.

She would complete her fast nine year in November.
