Imphal, June 09 2009: Security forces personnel have gunned down one suspected UG at Kakching Lamkhai in Thoubal district last night around 10.30 and recovered of a 9 mm pistol loaded with live rounds from the slain UG.

A combined force of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 20 Assam Rifles killed the suspected UG in an encounter which was allegedly initiated by some suspected militants moving there when the combined force asked to stop for frisking and checking, according to the police.

The sources further said that other militant managed to escape while taking advantage of the darkness of the night.
