Imphal, April 15 2009: In view of possible threats to the lives of Sangai due to the ongoing counter insurgency operation at Keibul Lamjao and adjoining areas, Environment Social Reformation and Sangai Protection Forum urged the security forces to stop their operation in these areas immediately.

The body also urged the concerned to allow their volunteers and Forest Department officials to enter the National park and check whether any of the endangered species are injured or killed.

The body further said that as Indian Army is a disciplined organisation, it must include a chapter in its conduct rules to ensure safety for wildlife.
