Imphal, January 02 2008: IN ALL, 54 dead bodies were cremated as unclaimed bodies during 2008 by the Imphal Muncipal Council.

The bodies, most or all of them were killed either by the security forces or unknown armed groups in different incidents.

As no one had claimed the bodies, the authorities were compelled to cremate them.
