Haflong(Assam), July 03 2009: An NSCN-IM militant was killed and another injured in an encounter with army in Assam's troubled North Cachar Hills district today.

Official sources said the extremists exchanged fire with the troops at Chotalinglo area in which one of them was gunned down and another injured.

An IED, arms and ammunition were seized from the ultras, the sources said.

Insurgents have been targetting security forces, railway personnel and property since May last.

Also attacks against Dimasa and Zeme Naga ethnic communities in the district have witnessed a rise recently.
