Imphal, January 19: Hurricane lamp (lantern) has been confirmed as the election symbol of RJD for the upcoming elections in Manipur.

The Election Commission of India has intimated the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur of the confirmation who, in turn, has informed the relevant DEOs and ROs.

Following the approval by Election Commission, the RJD candidates who filed independently may use 'lantern' as their symbols, said its general secretary N Ibohal.

It may be mentioned here that RJD is not yet a national party, it is recognised by the Election Commission as a regional party based in Bihar and Jharkhand.

RJD Manipur is only the third unit of the party.
