Imphal, November 17 2008: Out of the two UG suspects killed during an alleged encounter by Imphal West Police Commandos just beyond the southern wall of Manipur University campus on November 15, one of the slain has been identified as Thokchom Basanta alias Inao (26) s/o Yumjao of Heingang Mayai Leikai.

According to information received by the press, Basanta was a PLA cadre but had been retired for the last 7 years and doing contract work.

The body has been taken by the family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.
