Imphal, December 10 2009: The troops of 26 Assam Rifles gunned down one suspected UG cadre in an alleged encounter at Patbung under Saparmeina police station at around 4.30 am today.

The dead body has been deposited at the mortuary of RIMS.

The identity of the slain person was not established till the filing of this report.

One point 32 pistol, 20 live rounds of AK-47 ammo and seven empty cases were being found from the possession of the slain person, informed the 26 AR personnel.
