Imphal, May 13 2009: One AR man was killed in an encounter with militants this morning around 10.30 at Lubanglong under Khoupum police station in Tamenglong district, a report said.

According to the report, the encounter took place between suspected Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) cadres and the 11 AR personnel.

However, the identity of the slain AR man and any report of injury were not furnished to the police till late in the evening.

Meanwhile, according to a bit of information culled from other sources, the encounter began last evening.

Exchange of gunfire occurred till this noon though at irregular intervals.
