Imphal, June 13 2009: The Communist Party of India (CPI), Manipur State Council deeply condemned the trend of killing migrant workers in the state by some unknown assailants in a meeting of the party held today at Irawat Bhavan and urged the state government to take up appropriate measures to check such unfortunate incidents in the state in future.

The state government should also provide security and support items to the bereaved families of the victims said a press release issued by the Secretary of the CPI, State Council, Langol Iboyaima.

Referring to the inconvenience faced by the farmers in the state regarding the infavourable circumstances of sowing paddy seeds due to the delay and scanty monsoon rainfall, the CPI urged all the related departments of the state government supply RLI pumps and all related implements including Diesel and electricity at free of cost as a step to facilitate the worried farmers in cultivating.

The CPI meeting also drew the state government's attention of to extend possible support to the farmers who are cultivating early paddy but unable to bloom due to lack of sufficient water in their fields.
