Imphal, June 16 2009: In the continue protest against the detention of five students under NSA after police arrested them in connection with the killing of prof.Dr Md Islamuddin on May 25, protestors have burnt effigies of chief minister and DGP at the concluding part of the sit-in protest.

The protests were carried out by the Lamboikhul Meira Paibi Lamjing Lup, nonglum Meira Paibi Lup, Huidrom Meira Paibi Lup, Wairi Women Welfare Association, Thoudam Meira Paibi Lup, Thoubal, Leishangthem Keithel Meira Paibi Lup, Thoubal, Ikoying English School, Thoubal, Chinga Makhong Meira Paibi, Tera Tongbram Leikai Meira Paibi, Tera Yambem Leirak Thingbaijam Leirak Meira Paibi Lup.

Protestors taking part in the protest at Wangkhei Ayangpali and Uyumpok Khunjao, effigies of chief minister and DGP were burnt at the concluding part.

Thet also shouted various slogans decrying the arrest and detention of students.

They also shouted various slogans demanding unconditional release of the detained students.
