Imphal, January 17 2009: FOUR INSURGENTS were killed by combined security forces in different incidents said to be encounters that occurred at different places in the state today.

A suspected militant has been gunned down by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles at New Chayang village under Waikhong police station in Thoubal district this evening at around 4.20 pm, a police report said.

A 9mm pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunitions recovered from the slain man which police suspected to be an activist of the PREPAK.

The dead body has been retrieved from the spot by the Waikhong police, the report added.
