Imphal, October 29 2009: The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has decided to temporarily suspend the boycott on government developmental news which it imposed in the wake of the assault of two reporters by police commandos on October 10, according to a statement issued by AMWJU vice-president Khogendra Khomdram.

This was decided today at the AMWJU special general body meeting held at the Manipur Press Club which was presided by vice-president of AMWJU Khogendra Khomdram and former president of AMWJU W Shyamjai.

The meeting also decided to demand the suspension of a 3rd IRB man, Rifleman No 132001285 Y Shoba, who has reportedly bullied the Imphal correspondent of the Telegraph, Kolkata and standing committee member of AMWJU, Khelen Thokchom last night at Tera Bazar, the statement conveyed.

Further, the meeting resolved to resume the AMWJU's boycott agitation on government developmental news if the demand is not fulfilled at the earliest, it added.
