Imphal, May 20 2009: A day after one powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted at a road was disposed off by the security forces personnel, another IED was also found planted on the roadside near the bridge across the Loktak Project Canal on the Tidim road at Ningthoukhong in in Manipur's Bishnupur district on Wednesday morning.

The IED apparently planted with an attempt to attack security forces was detected by the security forces personnel themselves on ROP duty along the Tidim road.

It was found planted on the roadside closed to black topping of the road, police report said.

Local people discovered the IED.

After the security forces personnel on ROP duty were informed, bomb experts of the 4/8 Gorkha Rifles safely defused the IED at the spot.

The recovery of the IED today is the second time in the last two days after a powerful IED planted on the roadside of the same road at Torbung was found yesterday by the troops of the 16 Maratha Light Infantry.
