Imphal, October 29 2008: Based on specific information regarding the presence of UGs at the general area of Laibi and Sita, troops of 29 AR launched operation and laid multiple ambushes.

The troops observed one person coming towards the ambush area at around 4.50 am.

On being asked to stop, the UG cadre opened fire towards the troops and on retaliatory firing, the cadre was eliminated at the spot.

One USA-made lethode gun and three lethode bombs have been recovered from the slain cadre.

The body along with the recovered items have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police station today, said statement issued by the PRO of AR.
