Imphal, November 22 2009: A suspected militant was reportedly shot dead during an encounter with a combined force of security personnel at Yairipok Pechi hillock under Yairipok police station of Thoubal district at around 5.15 pm today.

According to police report, the encounter took place between a combined force of Thoubal District Police Commandos and personnel of 34 Assam Rifles and a group of suspected armed UGs.

IN the ensuing encounter, the combined force killed one UG suspect and recovered one Ak-47 Rifles and a magazine loaded with 15 live rounds of ammunition and 20 fired cartridges from the site of the encounter.The body has been picked up and kept at the mortuary of RIMS for identification.
