Imphal, December 21 2009: A local labourer was shot and injured by some unidentified armed persons last midnight at Samurou under Wangoi police station in Imphal West district.

Heikrujam Tomba (35) s/o Ibotombi of Chongtham Kona was shot by some armed men near Snow Land oil pump at Samurou along Mayai Lambi at about 12.15 am last night.

Tomba has been working as a labourer in the repairing work of Imphal Barrage canal.

He was called out from the makeshift labourers' camp by one individual.

A bullet that hit Tomba on the left calf exited through.

He has been discharged after treatment at RIMS.Wangoi police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
